Redact a PDF privately in your browser

Draw black-out regions over names, account numbers, or other sensitive areas. Affected pages are rasterized so the covered content is removed from the page appearance — without uploading the file.

How to redact a PDF

  3. Download the redacted PDF and verify the result before sharing.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded when I redact it?
No. Redaction runs entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
Is the redacted content really gone?
Pages with redactions are rasterized (turned into images) with black fills drawn over the regions. Covered content is no longer present as selectable text on those pages. Always review the downloaded file before sharing highly sensitive documents.
What happens to pages I did not redact?
Untouched pages are copied as-is, keeping their original vector quality.
Does redacting modify my original file?
No. A new redacted PDF is created when you download. Your original stays unchanged on disk.
