Bookmarks are a ready-made table of contents
Most generated PDFs — theses, manuals, financial reports — include an outline whose top-level entries mark chapter starts. Reading those locally gives exact page ranges without you typing anything, and each output file inherits the bookmark title as its name.
No bookmarks? Use ranges
Scanned documents rarely carry an outline. When no usable bookmarks exist the tool says so instead of guessing; split by explicit page ranges with Split PDF, or extract a specific chapter with Extract pages.
